Home Sweet Home...

Happy Memorial Day! Thank you to all the men & women (including my father) who have served our country. No words can express how my heart aches for those who lost their lives. You will always be remembered.. true heroes.

We spent the weekend at home. Catching up around the house and today launching our boat to park at it's dock. I can't believe it was 83.. time to open the pool. :)

Today I'm sharing a project made with products from Emma's Paperie that also fits The Shabby Tea Room challenge.

Grateful for..

the rain. Why? After planting a ton of new landscaping plants it means I don't have to go water everything, lol. Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was very productive.

First, I'll share a card I made with this weeks CardPatterns sketch. I also included the Glitz Designschallenge of "clustering". The papers, transparencies, die cut ect.. as Glitz. The roses I made from Resin (see tutorial in my previous post).

 
 

And a card I made for this weeks Shabby Tea Room challenge to make a "baby" card. I used Sassafras Lass papers.

Resin tutorial...

I finally had a moment to take some photos and make a little tutorial on how to make the resin accents I've been posting. It's so fun. :)

First you'll need Ice Resin Resin & Hardener ( or something similar),molds (mine are from etsy.. they have just about anything you could think of),  something to measure (disposable),something to mix the resin & hardener (disposable), and something to color the mixture (paint, re-inkers ect..).

 
 

Once you have everything set up and your molds chosen begin measuring equal parts resin and hardener.

 
Next, mix the 2 together for about 2 minutes until clear. Let set an extra minute to let bubbles rise.

 

Now choose a color.. I picked white. You only need to add a drop and mix again.

 

Start pouring into molds slowly so it spreads and fills each one.

 
After filling some of the molds you can change the color. I added a little blue.

 
Once you've used all resin mixture, set all the molds on a flat surface and let them harden for 8-12 hours. I usually give them about 12 hours and then pop them out of the molds.

 

Here's some of the fun resin shapes I've made:

 
 

After you're done you can paint them, use copic markers to color them, spray with glimmer mist ect.. I've used them on layouts, cards, altered items, rings, necklaces, and plan to make a bracelet. ;)

A garden walk..

Yesterday I spent 5 hours planting new trees, shrubs, plants ect.. Before crafting my love was landscaping and I really enjoy watching everything mature. I took a few photos yesterday that I thought I'd share. :)

The Tri-c olor Beech. It comes out a bright pink with green tips and matures to a redish pink and green. Quite amazing!

 

The Japanese Maple.. love these!

 

Weeping Cherry (?) in full bloom. All the blossoms form berries that the birds love in the Fall.

Wonderful white..

I love shabby white and this weeks Shabby Tea Room challenge was monochromatic. I'm sure you can guess I went with a lovely white combo.

 I layered Prima papers, felt, Zva pearls, a doily and felt flowers & butterflies that a die cut and made. The little bird is resin that I made as well. I promise to do a tutorial soon. :)

More signs of Spring..

Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! We spent the weekend cleaning up the yard and my gift (a Stihl Kombisystem) was handy. :) And we had our first Oriole & Hummingbird of the year! Here's a friend who has visited often since then:

 

And a few cards with a butterfly theme this week. First this weeks CardPatterns sketch(flipped sideways) using new Jenni Bowlin paper and butterfly stamp:

 
 

And a card I had lots of fun creating. This weeks Shabby Tea Room challenge was to use ruffles. Then I saw Cath's Tuesday trigger and had to use Webster's Trendsetter paper. I was inspired by the skirt and of course ruffles.

I made the ruffles by folding and sewing the papers. The chipboard dress form is wrapped with lace.

Ahh.. Spring :)

Seems like it's finally arrived. I'm just itching to add some plants to the landscaping. I walked around the yard today and took some photos so here's a mini tour. ;)

And this weeks Shabby Tea Room challenge is to use blue, white, kraft. What a great color combo. I love doing these challenges a nice break just creating for fun. :) The papers are Webster's, the flowers are die cut from cork, and the stick pin my mom made.
