Season's of Change

A very special day...

9 years ago today I welcomed the light of my life.. my son! I had been sitting in the hospital for a week since my water broke at 34 weeks and he picked Jan. 24th to arrive. He was whisked off to the NICU and I was able to see him just before midnight. And after 9 days he finally came home. My life has been complete ever since, :)

Today I thought I'd share a little timeline of layouts and photos.

2 days old.. finally off most of the tubes & hoses and I get to hold him.

A layout from when he was about 6 months old. Do you remember Diane's Daughter.. I did this for them way back when, lol.

I think this one was in Memory Makers.. he's about just 2.

 

About 3, our fishing trip. It was in Memory Makers ( I miss that magazine).

About age 7, we had a tree frog living by the pool.

And last week.

I realize I haven't made a layout in so long.. need to work on that.

The Ninjago birthday boy...

My son turns 9 tomorrow. How time flies!! I scheduled a post for tomorrow about him, but today I have a few projects I made for his birthday.

First I used todays PTI MIM challenge (to make a shaker card) to make his birthday card. I recycled some packaging to make a shaker full of red glitter and stars behind the star and guitar. I was excited to finally have a chnace to use this stamp set and guitar die. On the inside I used the same stamp set to make the boder and sentiment.

And for his class tomorrow I made some treats. My son wanted a Lego Ninjago theme. Since they don't make such a thing yet (for birthdays) I found a seller on Etsy that sells Ninjago printables.

So I made my own cupcake toppers and candy bar wrappers;

Let it snow...

Finally, we have snow here! It's so beautiful and makes everything look fresh and new. Ds had a snow day Friday and even though I'm not in school I still get excited for him. If only they'd call off work, lol.  It was a challenge traveling for work.. some places the snow was higher than my car hood.

Today Betsy had a fun masking technique for PTI MIM that I decided to try. Keeping with the snow theme this is what I came up with. I used lots of PTI dies, inks, and stamp sets.

Sew it's Monday...

Yes, I know I spelled "so" wrong. ;) You'll see why when you see today's project. Here in Michigan the weather is... a nice and balmy 45 degrees today. This has been the weirdest "winter" yet. I keep waiting for the snowstorm?!  Are you having warmer weather as well?

Well , onto todays creation. I decided to combine The Shabby Tea Roomand PTI challenges again this week. The Shabby Tea Room has a gorgeous inspiration photo (check it out) and asks that you use a "sewing" element in your creation. PTI technique this week is to use a border punch to make a background. I used the Victorian Lace Border and used both the positive and negative image to make the background.  I also die cut the dress form and added little spools with twine to my stick pins. I added the scissors and Singer sewing machine charm.. how fun!

Hope everyone is enjoying 2012 so far. ;) So far it's great her although I'm a little sad.. I've had a week off from work to spend with ds and head back tomorrow.

Today I was able to take part in a couple challenges. My two favorite ones actually. :) First PTI "Make it Monday" was to use any technique from the past year. I picked stamping on vellum to combine with this weeks Shabby Tea Room challenge (see the photo on their website).

I used MME papers, PTI stamp and butterfly die, and a handmade stick pin. I stamped on the vellum, cut it out, and backed it with a strip of script paper to make the stamping stand out a bit. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week!

2011 in review...

I've been slacking in my posts, sorry. We've been having lots of fun family time. Christmas was the best one yet! We exchanged lots of handmade gifts, good food, and put a TON of Lego sets together, lol. I think my house has been taken over by Lego Ninjago. ;)

I've never done a list of my fav projects of the year before, but thought I'd join in the fun this year. So here goes (in no particular order):

The box from this one was in Paper Crafts Magazinethis year. I used wooden balls to make it a box that could be used for jewelry ect.. I sprayed them with glimmer mist to tint.

This one was in CardMaker Magazine.

My fav color of the year had to be teal.. well and white. ;)

I had fun as guest designer at The Shabby Tea Roomand making this project. It's sitting in my livingroom.

This project I made for Emma's Paperie I love because I made the flowers from lace and the wooden spools with twine are so cute!

This one uses Glitz Designs and is a wall hanging.

This one was for a PTI challenge (something I loved doing this year).

I love my boy more then anything!!

These colors make me dream of Spring plus I had fun with the stamping.

This year I started making my own Resin pieces and did a tutorial ( check it out here).

Lace trees & Angels...

Just wanted to post and wish everyone who stops by my blog a wonderful holiday! I appreciate all the comments.. even if I don't always get the time to reply. May your day be blessed with family and friends. :)

A card for you.. I sent this one out this year. The angel is chipboard and comes off to make an ornament that hangs by the twine.

And a quick and fun project. A lace tree, the base is just a styrofoam cone. I pinned the different trims on and used 2 tart tins for the bottom. You can see all the supplies at Emma's Paperie. ;)

Christmas cards, decor, and crafts...

I've been slacking. I meant to post all these Christmas projects with a countdown. Work and life seems to have gotten in the way. ;)

So today I'm making up for it with a post of every Christmas project. ;)

How about a card using PTI stamps and dies. These are some of the cards I sent out this year. I made 60 cards.. all different. :)

Another fun card:

A fun little gift set with Christmas treats (white chocolate covered pretzels).

These are what I gave everyone at my workplace (se easy). I filled mason jars with pretzels covered w/white chocolate and the embellished.

A candle wrapped in rolled paper I made last year.

A couple of cards that were in Paper Crafts magazine.

A mini-book that was in Paper Crafts magazine. It contains envelopes to put each years letter to Santa and photos ect..

A card that was on the cover of Card Creations magazine.

A frame.

A tree made by recycling ribbon rolls.

And an ornament.

A wreath that was in Simply Handmade.

Wall plaques I made, I have these on my mantel. They were in Simply Handmade.

And a button wreath wall hanging I made that was in a magazine a few years back. I still love this one. ;)

2 weeks to Christmas..

Can you believe it? I'm pretty much ready. I just have to create a few things. Our elf "Herby" has been up to some tricks at our house and ds has been enjoying his "25 days of Christmas" countdown, which includes a gift from Grandma & PaPa everyday and a Star Wars advent calendar. ;)

I have a few projects to share and need to catch up on posting!

December fun..

How are you coming along with your Christmas shopping and decorating? I'm pretty much done and spent part of the weekend wrapping everything. It's all tucked under the tree. :)

Today I thought I'd play along with this weeks Shabby Tea Room challenge. There's a great inspiration photo and you must use pink, gold, neutrals, flowers, and snowflakes.

I had fun using my Webster's Pages goodies and gold leaf pen. I used gold leafing on the chipboard frame, doily, die cut snowflakes, and around the edges of my cork rose (die cut). Sorry for the dark photos we haven't had any sunshine here today.

And a fun project my son & I made for my parents. I was inspired by pinterest. We painted his foot and had him step on a piece of cardstock. We decorated it to look like a snowman and framed it.
